Public Benefits

Well done video about working and receiving SSI, Able Act and Other Work/Student Related SSI Benefits.
Workshops
PHP provides free workshops on accessing public benefits such as In-Home Supportive Services, Supplemental Security Income, and Medi-Cal.
For those who need additional support after attending the live or on-demand webinar training, PHP also provides 1:1 consultations, at $40/hour. If your child is a client of the Regional Center, you can request a POS to cover the cost of this service. Due to limited staffing, we strongly urge you attend a workshop prior to requesting a consultation.
Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
Parents report that after attending this training, they felt ready to apply for SSI on behalf of their family member. The class is intended to prepare you with information about how to increase the likelihood of a first-time approval. Participants will learn through lecture, discussion, writing, practice and dialogue.
In Home Supportive Services (IHSS)
Eligibility for IHSS is only available to those with Medi-Cal, including through Institutional Deeming available from Regional Centers. Your child may be living at home with you or in their own home to be eligible for this service. You might even be paid as the provider of their services. They may not be living in a group home. If you are considering Supported Living, this service must be tapped if eligible before hours are awarded for supported living.
