  • Explain that you have/had a child with the same condition and that ____ from PHP thought we might have a lot to talk about

  • Explain that you’re calling to set up a time to talk or get together (unless now is OK)

  • Bring your child or a picture if a face to face meeting

  • Ask about spouses and siblings

  • Utilize other support systems

  • Refer to professionals for medical/legal advice

  • Encourage them to find time for themselves

  • Stay in contact until not needed
